Yamaha RD400F - DVN 402V

Full Restoration and total rebuild

Picked up from London on a very snowy and icy day, bike was completely stripped and in bags and boxes, which was handy as it all fitted in the rear of an Alfa Mito. The restoration was to concourse standard and sold through KGF Classic Cars as per last few photos


This is how the bike arrived Jan 2013 totally stripped by the previous owner
The engine was mainly in one piece, barrels and pistons had been removed and sandblasted
Stripped the engine, cases dirty but will aqua blast OK
Gear box all OK just needs cleaning
Clutch and electronic ignition looked good 
Forks stripped, stanchions off  for hard chroming, and polishing underway
Frame sandblasted and high build primed before being sent to SPA for painting
New Indicators, rear shocks, pistons, coil etc.
Other parts stripped cleaned and repainted
Clocks cleaned checked and rebuilt
Start of the reassembly 
New rear shocks, swinging arm with new bushes
Forks rebuilt, genuine new old stock front mudguard
Handlebar controls fully rebuilt and repainted
Electrics all refurbished with original connectors
Replacement NOS rear mudguard
Loom ready to be reconnected in the head light
Engine cases after being aqua blasted by PPC
Just as good as new
Rebuilt crank new bearings and seals all round
Cases now bolted together and continued rebuild
Clutch cleaned checked and ready for assembly
Enamelled side cases and new pistons fitted
Completed engine rebuild
All original engine bolts cleaned and polished
Engine installed in the frame
Wheels rubbed down, polished, masked and repainted
New tyres fitted, seat base stripped repainted and new cover fitted
Exhausts re-chromed by Marque Restore
Down pipes re-chromed
New paintwork from KAS Race Paints
